Mindy, her husband, Tom and their twin daughters, have lived in Penfield for 9 years. A member of the PenDems since January, 2016, Mindy is honored to be running for Town Board, to be a voice for residents at the Table that is local government. Mindy is passionate about conservation of land and preservation of history, believing both provide tangible benefits on a town’s character, economic viability, and quality of life. In a society that is quick to plow down its historic structures and natural spaces, Mindy believes these aspects of a place provide it not only with a strong foundation, but with a springboard to innovation and progress.
From her own experience as a resident of Penfield, Mindy is also well aware of our traffic issues, concerns about over-development, and the lack of a town center. Through a town-wide survey that she helped create and distribute as part of the PenDems Platform Team, Mindy knows that these are just some of the problems highlighted by close to 600 fellow residents who participated in taking this survey. She believes that with creative thinking, and collaboration with, and help from, public and private entities, that workable solutions can be found to these persistent issues.
Mindy has had the opportunity to meet and connect with Penfielders of all political stripes, whether it be as an original member of the Save Shadow Pines citizen activist group, the founder of the Irene Gossin Nature Preserve on Five Mile Line Road, as a volunteer with Bri-Pen Senior Rides, while walking door to door on behalf of other local candidates, or as a mom to 2 young children. She believes that, while she may be at the opposite end of the ideological spectrum of some residents, what we all have in common is that we are residents of the same town. Simply put: we are neighbors.
Mindy’s intention is to advocate for the best for the whole of Penfield because she knows that, as residents, we are all in this together!
